She didn't want anybody. For the first time in her life.
Then he came.
And he went away.
Distance and silence were what was ruling now and she hated both.
They had similar features and sometimes when they talked she had the feeling she was talking to herself. Another or one of her selves and she had plenty of them. She saw his reactions and the way his thought flew and she saw parts of herself- some current and some forgotten. He would kick her back when she teased him- with force and atrocity of a child that always has to strike back to show his strength (both physical and as a sign of a special character) and she remembered she was doing the same when she was a child not that many years ago. He talked of ideas she had before and was talking more than actually going what was needed to fulfil the talking and she had been doing the same for some time. They were both covered in dreams and coated in self-defence and dignity with particular scents. She watched and learned. Through a lot of hardship though. Looking at him gave her the perception of her own stand and added her a shape she hadn't seen until that moment.
She understood she was not all she thought she was and got disappointed of herself but hoped she would know from now on. Maybe. Stubbornness was a feature they both shared.
But they were different as well.
He had seen much more. Had felt much more. Was tired and anxious just as much, or maybe much more.
He had lived with a loved one. She had never loved anyone. He had a sensation for everything. All the sensations came to her distant as if from very far away and she was not sure of the value and intensity of the feeling itself, if it was originating from her or it was just because she was supposed to react in the certain way as per the average belief and prejudice. She was losing herself, returning to the body to see what the mechanical movements had been doing. She had known she was damaged. But it was only then when she realized the immensity of the damage. And she got scared of it. At the same time she felt an urge that she could neither explain nor control and it was the urge that made her a human the most. But she was a human from a short time then and did not know what to do. She was a kid.
He, on the other hand, knew what it was to have and what it was to lose and if an effort would be worth it. His laziness irritated her. Her reactions irritated him. They both wanted everything but their idea of this everything was disparate. From time to time he was a kid too...
She knew that in the end he would remember nothing of her and she would only remember that his upper lip was a bit more forward than the lower one and when he talked on the phone and smiled his fangs came out and she liked that. She knew that in the end to each other they would both be just somebody that they used to know but it would not be with a bad feeling. And the end was close.
